So … I am not even going to address the fact that the reading was given to me without my asking because that is a whole other issue that could take a blog post of its own, but instead I want to focus on the message and how I am concerned about what this Reader told me and is clearly telling others. I’m not going to delve into determining whether I agree with the warning or not, what I am going to comment on is the focus of fear that is prominent within the reading and why I have an issue with this.
If we look at the overall message I was given, even though I did not copy it word for word and instead paraphrased some of it using my own vernacular and leaving out some personal points, I did present to you the overall theme, which we can see is clearly a warning of “evil things to come”. The Reader focused on my uniqueness from the rest of the world (my being connected to the spiritual realm) and then hit me with fear, fear, and more fear without any indication of how to protect myself other than focus on the “good things”, a very generalized remedy to very specific evils that are after me to kill me? The Reader did use the word survive in the reading, but I don’t know if it was meant to be literal or a metaphor.
S/he emphasized all the misfortune I was in store for this year: prolonged evil and darkness, True Evil, “snuff me out”, being attacked physically, mentally, emotionally, and magickally, having things stolen from me, rumors and lies spread about me, and persecution by everyone and anyone (the Reader knew about my continuing issues with my landlady so this was included) and lastly that I shouldn’t practice magick where people could see me. When I received this reading I felt as if the Reader was trying to push all the possible fear buttons I might have, but when I was receiving the reading I was asking questions because honestly it didn’t resonate with me.
“Bring it on!”
“Let them try!”
“I’m prepared!”
Were the phrases I began saying in response to the psychic because I wasn’t going to give in to the fear that I felt the Reader was propagating. And in contemplation it appears to me that the Reader was acting as an agent of the “darkness and evil” s/he was warning me about!
Now, I’m not saying that as Readers we do not receive warnings for our clients because we do, I have and felt obligated to share it with my client, but in all cases I was also provided a remedy or a solution or options on how the client would be able to handle the uncomfortable situation or misfortune.
For example, Mary came to me a few years ago with concerns about her relationship. She was convinced that her husband was cheating on her. He wasn’t. What he was doing was drinking, drinking a lot and frequently spending all their savings and delving into their Retirement Fund. Lovely. They were coming into some serious financial problems with the possibility of losing their home and having no money to rent and possibly nowhere to go. Mary received warnings through this reading about her financial situation, her husband’s ill health and possible death, bills that she couldn’t and wouldn’t be able to pay, and no place to live, but the Reading went on to provide options for her to consider: close the bank accounts and open them in your name only, inform your adult children as to what is going on, enlist the help of your husband’s physician along with magickal steps she could take.
My point is that in all the readings I’ve had the pleasure of providing for my clients, and I’ve done countless, there was always advice that accompanied the warning. Here’s what’s about to unfold and here is what you can do about it. The reading didn’t just present fear, after fear, after fear. I can’t imagine what this Reader’s clients are thinking and feeling after they receive a reading from her/him. I hope s/he is able to provide them with more guidance than to just “stay focused on ‘good’ things”.
