- Knowledge and practice of magick
As I mentioned in a previous blog post that there are tenets that exist that create the foundation of Wicca even if you are a Modern Eclectic Wiccan. There is a line, a boundary for everything, a point when something stops being one thing and transforms into something else. There are characteristics or traits that identify Wicca as Wicca. I will continue to discuss these characteristics or tenets in this blog. I have already discussed other tenets and today I will continue with the next one, which is:
Magick is the art and science of creating change to an individual’s reality whether within themselves or to their environment through the manipulation of Will, emotions, and energy. There is numerous ways to practice magick as there are those who utilize it, but all individuals that practice would agree that it starts with knowledge and understanding of what magick is and how it works. Some Wiccans may possess inherited knowledge passed through ancestral memories, or past life memories, while others learn with a teacher or mentor and are guided through a program of study and practice (Year-And-a-Day). Regardless of how the Wiccan gains their knowledge of magick, they do and they practice it. They use it to manifest the life they desire for themselves, they use it in service to others and they use it to gain insight when it seems there is nothing more to know. All Wiccans use magick, though in some cases it might be as subtle as making soup for a sick friend filled with intentions for wellness and herbs for healing, while other times it may be done as a spell cast in a large ritual on Samhain, but in all cases a Wiccan harnesses the natural energies surrounding them, within their environment, from the earth, from the other Planes of Existence, or from within themselves to fuel their intentions towards manifestation. There are no Wiccans who don’t practice magick, all Wiccans do. It is who we are, it is how we live, it is what we do.
