This self-realization came on the wake of a personal spiritual shifting. This past Saturday morning I was driving to Dunkin Donuts to get myself a cup of coffee after dropping my son off at his martial arts class and listening to my MP3 player, which has a selection of songs that has been on there for
“To think, beyond what you could think
And feel, beyond what you can feel
To see, beyond what can be seen
And be, beyond what we believe …”
"A veil of sparkling white soothes and bathes me in the light
It fills me with the suns and visions of the ancient ones
Descend to me, and soothe my disarray
And so it’s done – Hear my words Avalon
Fields are swaying like dancers in the moonlight
Rivers filled with dreams – Unbroken and still promising
Descend to me, and soothe my disarray
And so it’s done – Hear my words Avalon
Warm inside – Open the way in
Float into the night – Embrace what’s to be
Avalon"
I type that here and find myself snickering at the ridiculousness of that idea. Avalon, really CricketSong. Avalon? I think I find that a bit cliché. A pagan loving Avalon. Not that there is anything wrong with that, it’s just that I do my best not to run towards things that ‘everyone’ does. In addition all that I know of Avalon is what I’ve learned from Arthurian Legend through books and movies such as The Mists of Avalon which I will admit is one of my all time favorite movies. So perhaps there is something more here for me to discover. And this time I promise I will listen.
